Magnetic nail polish contains small metallic fragments that require manipulation with a magnet. The fragments come in different sizes, depending on the polish. Some fragments are larger and produce a bold glittery effect while finer particles create a softer glow. Regardless of the size of the fragments, formulas are often slightly translucent, allowing the magnetic pieces to float freely.
Absolutely not! Regular nail polish can be magnetic, too! In fact, our magnetic polishes are all regular nail polish. That means high sparkle and shine, plus easy removal! Because regular nail polish air-dries, it’s essential to act fast. Have your area set up and your magnet close by. As soon as you finish applying the polish to your nail, use the magnet to move the particles. We offer a range of colours, including a multi-chrome magnetic polish that will blow your mind!
The thickness of the coats you apply for magnetic polish will make a significant difference in the result. Thinner coats are ideal, but there needs to be enough polish on your nail for the magnets to move. If the coat is too thin, the magnetic particles may get clumpy in certain areas. However, a coat that’s too thick can dry unevenly.
Activating a magnetic polish can be a fun and somewhat stressful undertaking on your first couple of tries. Not all magnetic polishes respond the same way, so please be patient with yourself!
Make sure to visit the ‘how-to’ section in each shade for the most effective application methods.
It’s possible to manipulate magnetic polish in numerous ways, and it comes down to the magnet itself and the technique used. Any magnet pushes the metallic elements around the nail and “activates” them to catch the light. Our polishes work with most magnets, but time is a consideration because our polishes air-dry. This is particularly true for velvet nails, which require placing a magnet on opposite sides of the nail. We have two nail magnets available here.
