The UVA Lamp

Does Picture Curable require a lamp?

Yes. Picture Curable has its own custom made LED lamp aka ‘spaceship’.

For an extensive review on the Picture Curable Lamp see The Spaceship Review.

It is very important to ensure the product cures properly (under curing may cause skin irritation).  Picture Curable cures at 395 nm and our lamp has 395 nm diodes so it is different to most gel lamps.

Specifications:

  • Power = 48 W
  • Light Source: 33 x 395nm diodes only*
  • Diode Lifespan: 50,000 hours

*The Picture Curable lamp does not cure gel systems that cure at 365/405nm.

Can you use an existing gel lamp with Picture Curable?

No. Picture Curable uses a specific formula requiring specific diodes that are not common in lamps used by other systems.

Picture Curable has been extensively tested to ensure thorough curing with our lamp.  It is recommended to use the Picture Curable ‘spaceship’ and follow the instructions provided for best results and proper curing.

How does the Picture Curable lamp work?

The Picture Curable lamp has an automatic sensor that turns on the LED lights when a hand enters the lamp.

Ensure all the nails are inside the lamp and receiving direct light contact and wait until the lights turn off after 120 seconds (2 minutes).

What are the buttons on the back of the Picture Curable lamp?

The Picture Curable lamp has additional buttons on the back that come standard with this model.

Please do not use those buttons as the settings may lower the light intensity which is not recommended for use when curing Picture Curable.

What about the power supply for my country?

Picture Curable lamps come standard with a power supply that has been certified to Australian standards.  It has an Australian power plug.

When you place an order from outside of Australia, we will contact you to confirm you power supply and plug.

If we are unable to source your power supply, the lamp will be shipped with the Australian power plug.  You will need to use a power adapter.  We will confirm that this is OK with you prior to shipping.

Application

Does Picture Curable need a base coat?

No. Picture Curable does not require a base coat.  Therefore there is no base coat product.

Does Picture Curable need a top coat?

No. Most Picture Curable colors cure to a high gloss finish.  However we highly recommend you apply ‘Glossy’ top coat for even greater shine and longer wear.

Plus ‘Glossy’ increases the special effect of some colors with an even glossier finish.

Do you need to wipe and cleanse Picture Curable products?

No. Picture Curable colors + top coat do not require any further cleansing.  All products cure to a wonderful high gloss finish.  There is no sticky, tacky surface or extra steps to finish your nails.

Once Picture Curable is cured, you’re done woohoo!

How to apply Picture Curable?

Firstly, please keep it simple and follow the process (it does not need to be re-invented).

Start with clean dry nails.  Apply the first thin coat of color (thick coats are not welcome) and cure for 120 seconds (2 minutes).

The Spaceship (lamp) is automatically set to come on and off at the right time for your convenience. Please do not use the buttons on the back side of the lamp.

Repeat the process for the second coat of color, then same for ‘Glossy’ top coat and you’re done.

What if I see wrinkles on the edge of my nail painted with Picture Curable?

If your Picture Curable colour is wrinkling at the edges, too much product has been applied and the coating of Picture Curable is too thick. To fix this situation, simply remove the coat with the wrinkles and re-apply a thinner coat before curing again.

What if I get Picture Curable on my skin or cuticles?

It’s very important to avoid contact of the uncured product with skin and cuticles.

Apply Picture Curable carefully to avoid any skin or cuticle contact.

Do not cure product which is on skin or cuticles.

Wipe away any product that is in contact with skin and cuticles with acetone or another suitable remover.  If any uncured product remains in contact with skin then irritation may occur.

What if my skin shows signs of irritation with Picture Curable?

Discontinue using Picture Curable immediately.

Some skin types do not tolerate different types of nail coatings.  Applied correctly and fully cured, Picture Curable has been shown not to cause irritation however if any irritation occurs using Picture Curable, discontinue use.

It is important that the product is applied correctly and fully cured. Uncured product is the most common cause of nail product irritation. Make sure the ‘spaceship’ correct lamp is used and the correct procedure is followed to get proper curing of Picture Curable.

Here is a great article by “Nail guru Doug Schoon” Doug Schoon about the importance of proper curing.

How long will Picture Curable wear?

Picture Curable will remain on your nails until you remove it.  Applied correctly you will have 10 to 14 days wear before your nails start to grow out.

Removal

How do you remove Picture Curable?

Picture Curable removes very quickly by soaking your nails in acetone or gel nail remover.

Immerse your nails for 2 to 3 minutes in 100% acetone or gel nail remover (90%+ acetone) and Picture Curable crinkles up and wipes away.  No sticks, drills, files or wraps. No scraping, filing, drilling or heating. It simply wipes off after a little dip.

You can also soak a swab and hold directly onto your nails for 2 to 3 minutes.

Acetone based nail polish remover and Acetone Free nail polish remover will also remove Picture Curable however the process will take longer.

Does Picture Curable cause damage to natural nails?

No. The Picture Curable removal process is very different to removing gel polish systems because there is no nail damage after removing.

Upon removing Picture Curable, you will find your nails are in good condition and ready for another manicure.

Picture Curable is perfect for quick color changes or a quick fix.
